Fun Facts:

  • I love Murder She Wrote, and I’ve always felt that was an understatement.
  • I ‘ran away’ to live in England when I was 19—for the fun of it. That lasted all of three months! Life before Google... in 1993
  • I have been described as a ‘crazy cat lady’, which is also an understatement.
  • Technically, I am a landed gentry in Scotland and can be referred to as ‘Lady’, ‘My Lady, or ‘Your Ladyship’. Whichever you prefer, ha!
  • My uncle was the mayor of Santa Monica three times!

What is your favorite part of working for Vantage Point, and why?

My favorite part of working at Vantage Point would have to be the people! Everyone is really smart, friendly, and welcoming. The team is very collaborative and fun. Working together so far has been a great experience.

How did you get to Vantage Point?

I came to Vantage Point via the EOS Worldwide Community. I’ve been working with Salesforce in one capacity or another since 2005, and one of my previous roles was at consulting company that ran on EOS. A friend from that company (who is also an EOS implementer) made the introductions, and the rest is history. The EOS community is abundance-minded and one of the best communities I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.

If you wrote a memoir, what would you title it and why?

My personal memoir would be titled: Mara Like Sarah, as I’m constantly correcting the pronunciation of my name. My professional memoir would be titled: I’m Sorry, I Was On Mute. I have been working or consulting in the digital age for over 20 years, and that mute button still gets me every time! I’ve thought about writing a memoir about my consulting experience, with some of my best adventures being the result of traveling almost weekly for over 10 years.

If you could go back to your first day at Vantage Point, what advice would you give yourself?

I would have to say the best advice I would give myself, in any situation, is LISTEN! Do not make assumptions; ask questions and gain clarity. Those reminders help me get through a lot of moments in both my professional and  personal lives.

What is your typical coffee order, and what do you think it says about you?

I love coffee. My favorite coffee is the one I buy for home (Illy); dark Italian roast, pour-over, jet black. However, if I’m out and about, it’s an Americano (also black), and I could be talked into a caramel macchiato with almond milk. Especially iced in the summer.

If you could choose any superpower, what would it be and why?

I would choose teleportation. Travel is such a passion of mine, and one of the barriers to long-distance travel is the time it takes to get to or from your destination. If I could eliminate "travel days," I would in a heartbeat.

What is your most unusual talent?

I don’t think I have an unusual talent (like wiggling ears, etc.), but if this counts, I can identify today’s major actors by the episode of Murder She Wrote in which they appeared.

What would you tell someone who’s thinking of applying for a job here?

Go for it! It’s been a great experience to date, and I’m looking forward to a great future here at Vantage Point.
